ブランド名“JANGA”の由来は、ヒッピー文化の象徴であるマリファナを意味する“GANJA”という言葉です。数年前に見た「砂漠で“GANJA”を嗜みながら編み物をするヒッピーの女性」が映る1969年の写真に、私は釘付けになりました。


The origin of the brand name "JANGA" is the word "GANJA" which means marijuana, which is a symbol of hippie culture.A few years ago,I was fascinated by a 1969 photo of a hippie woman knitting in the desert while enjoying GANJA.

育ってきた年代や環境、触れてきた思想や経験により、その人の価値観が形作られます。望ましい状態が人それぞれであることは自然なことです。そのため、私は何事も単一的なものさしで正解・不正解を判断することは難しいと考えます。

身につけるアイテムだけでなく、仕事や住む場所などライフスタイル全てにおいて、自身のものさしで魅力的だと思う状態を選択することが幸せなことではないでしょうか。

そんな私の思考を通して例の写真を見た時に、
1960-70年代に世界を巻き込むアンチテーゼの民衆運動に影響を受けた1人の女性が纏う魅惑的な雰囲気が、自分の芯を持って自分で選択し、行動する生き方を体現しているように見えたのです。

私もその女性のように在りたいと思っています。



A person's sense of values ​​is shaped by the age and environment in which he/she grew up, and the thoughts and experiences he or she has been exposed to. It is natural that the desired state is different for each person. Therefore, I think that it is difficult to judge the correct and incorrect answers by a single ruler.

Isn't it a happy state to choose a state that you think is attractive according to your own standards, not only in the items you wear, but also in all aspects of your lifestyle, such as work and where you live?

When I look at the photo through my thoughts, I can see the enchanting atmosphere of a woman who was influenced by the antithesis popular movement that swept the world in the 1960s and 1970s. It seemed to embody a way of life that takes action.

I want to be like that woman too.
